Silicone Greases

Silicone Greases comprise silicone fluids filled with inorganic material to produce a grease. They have excellent water repellency, dielectric and lubricating properties as well as being colourless and non-toxic. Due to the physical properties of the grease they have improved resistance to physical attack and chemical attack.

Sealing

Silicone grease will adhere to many surfaces ensuring an excellent seal on a variety of joints e.g. glass apparatus, valves and taps.

Lubricating

A low coefficient of friction makes them ideal lubricants for metal to plastic and plastic to plastic lubrication e.g. plastic bearings. Silicone is not recommended for use where there is metal to metal contact. Greasil 4000 is WRC approved for lubricating "O" ring assemblies in water pipes.

Insulating

Silicone greases are used as insulating media in the electronics industry. They can be used as insulating coatings in transformer stations as-well as on ignition systems. The high thermal conductivity makes silicone grease ideal for use as heat sink compounds, whilst insulating against electronic charge. The water repellency of silicone grease means that the electrical component is protected and insulated against moisture ingress.
