Silicone emulsions are oil in water based fluids which are produced by special emulsifying systems to hold the silicone oil in suspension. These products are very useful as they exhibit all the benefits of silicone fluids – lubricity, gloss, release, whilst being able to be diluted for various applications requiring water miscibility. These silicone emulsions are available in two types;
NonionicDue to the fact that it is uncharged this type of emulsion has a number of general-purpose applications. They are compatible with many anionic, cationic and other nonionic materials and formulations.
CationicThe oil phase of the emulsion is positively charged which enhances the adhesion to materials and improves the anti-static and softening characteristics.
