Printing Industry

Silicone Emulsions are used in heat-set, web offset printing machines. This offers advantages in the processing of the finished product.

Processing

Silicone Fluid conditions the webs which improves resistance to high temperatures, increases tolerance to shear forces and offers good anti-blocking properties and mechanical stress. High quality papers can be conditioned with silicone emulsions to produce sharper edges and reduce friction on the guide rollers. Special emulsions containing wax are also available. These products produce extra sheen to the paper surface, which is particularly useful on heavily inked or matt papers. These products are especially useful for high-speed magazine printing applications. Where UV printing ink systems are used, PennWhite produces the 'Super webglide' range of wax emulsions

Finished Products

Silicone emulsions enhance the properties of the finished product. Colour intensity, gloss and feel are all improved qualities from using silicone emulsions. The products also confer some antistatic properties so that little or no additional antistatic is required.
